The In-Between Years | Burlington, WA

There’s something really special about photographing people who aren’t just clients—they’re your people.

This sweet family of three happens to be some of my very best friends, which made this session feel more like hanging out than “work.” Watching them together, laughing easily and just being themselves, reminded me why I love doing what I do. There’s a comfort and authenticity you can’t force.

Their son, Grady, is 13 now, which feels wild to even say out loud. He’s right in that in-between stage—still playful, but growing into himself in such a confident, thoughtful way. It’s such a meaningful age to capture. Not quite little, not quite grown, but full of personality and change.

Photographing this family was an absolute joy, and one I don’t take for granted. Getting to freeze a season of life for people I love so much? That’s the good stuff.
